AvaTrade Code 128979: What It Really Does

Someone asks me about partner codes every couple of weeks. Always the same thing: do you get discounted fees or free trading?

Short answer: no. AvaTrade doesn't charge commission on forex. You pay the spread. That's the cost. A partner code doesn't touch it.

Code 128979 unlocks the deposit bonus. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. That's all it does.

How much bonus do you receive?

A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.

Put in $2,000, get $400.

$5,000 to $9,999 adds $1,000.

Top tier is $14,000 on deposits over $100,000. Most people won't hit that.

UK traders funding read more in pounds start at £160 on £800. Scales up to £11,200 maximum.

You can open an account with $100. Minimum for any bonus is $1,000.

The code field isn't obvious

When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, there's a small link saying "Have a Partner Code?". Click on that text. A text box appears. Type **128979**.

Most people miss it because it doesn't look like a proper form field until you click.

Sometimes it shows as invalid, don't worry. Complete your registration. Message your account manager before you deposit. Ask them to add code 128979. They handle this regularly.

There's a catch with the bonus

You need to trade a certain volume.

About 10,000 units for every dollar of bonus. A $200 bonus means trading 2,000,000 units before that $200 unlocks. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Happens faster than you'd think if you're active.

Your own money stays yours. Access it whenever you need. Only the bonus has the restriction.

Something useful to understand: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. This lets you take bigger positions. For someone still learning, that buffer can keep you in the game long enough to figure things out.
